Quality Policy

The Quality Assurance Policy of the School of Informatics is fully aligned with the quality policy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as approved by the Senate of the Institution, and reflects its core values.

The School of Informatics strives to ensure and promote the quality of its teaching, research, and administrative work through the continuous improvement of all its operations and with the participation and contribution of all its members.

The school organizes and implements Postgraduate Studies Programs of high standards in the most important fields and areas of its discipline, oriented towards contemporary trends and requirements, thereby enhancing its academic profile. Additionally, the Department is committed to developing a creative research and working environment for all its staff — teaching, research, and administrative — as well as a creative academic environment for its students.

Quality is recognized as a fundamental element for the realization of the Department’s vision and the fulfilment of its mission, and therefore the creation of a quality culture is considered essential.

Implementation of the Quality Policy – Quality Assurance

The School of Informatics and, in particular, the Postgraduate Studies Program on Artificial Intelligence are committed to the implementation of the quality policy, which strengthens the academic profile and orientation of the postgraduate study programs, promotes their purpose and subject matter, implements their strategic objectives (as set annually) and defines the means, actions, and methods for achieving them, ensures the participation of interested parties, and applies the recommended internal and external quality procedures with the ultimate aim of their continuous improvement. Beyond the above, the school is committed to cultivating a climate of communication and cooperation among all of its members (staff, students, and interested parties).

The School of Informatics and the Postgraduate Studies Program on Artificial Intelligence apply the institutionalized quality assurance procedures of the Quality Manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with the required specialization at the level of the Postgraduate Studies Program as applicable. The application of the IQAS procedures is carried out in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of the University. The quality assurance procedures constitute a valuable tool for the school and its individual Postgraduate Studies Programs, enabling them to implement their teaching and research activities, ensure the achievement of their set objectives, and generally upgrade their academic work.

The School of Informatics and the Postgraduate Studies Program on Artificial Intelligence are committed, for the implementation of the policy, to applying quality procedures that will demonstrate:

  • the appropriateness of the structure and organization of the Postgraduate Studies Program
  • that the intended learning outcomes and qualifications are in accordance with the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education
  • the promotion of the quality and effectiveness of the teaching and research work of the Postgraduate Studies Program
  • the appropriateness of the qualifications of the teaching staff for the Postgraduate Studies Program
  • the drafting, implementation, and review of specific annual quality objectives for the improvement of the Postgraduate Studies Program
  • the level of demand in the labor market for the qualifications acquired by graduates
  • the quality of support services
  • the efficient utilization of the Postgraduate Studies Program’s resources, which may derive from tuition fees
  • the conduct of the annual internal evaluation and review of the quality assurance system for the Artificial Intelligence Postgraduate Studies Program, in cooperation with the Internal Evaluation Committee (IEC) and the QAU of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The procedures applied for monitoring and continuously improving the quality of the Postgraduate Studies Programs are analyzed as follows:

  • Implementation of the quality assurance policy for the Postgraduate Studies Program, periodic review and revision thereof (when required).
  • Design of the Postgraduate Studies Program in accordance with the applicable Legislation and the Regulations of AUTH, taking into account — to the extent feasible — the views of students, graduates of the school, the program and collaborating bodies.
  • Alignment with the applicable legislative framework and regulatory provisions.
  • Application of the Regulations of the Postgraduate Studies Program and other Regulations and Regulatory Decisions of AUTH.

  • Collection and processing/analysis of quality data (complete, accurate, and up-to-date information) for the quality assurance of the Artificial Intelligence Postgraduate Studies Program with the aim of improving it.
  • Monitoring, analysis, and benchmarking against national and international indicators.
  • Publication of information about the Postgraduate Studies Program.
  • Qualitative and systematic updating of the Postgraduate Studies Program’s website (in Greek, English, and possibly other languages) for the dissemination of relevant Program information.
  • Strategic and goal-setting feedback mechanisms, etc., review, undertaking of actions and corrective measures (when required).
  • Conduct of annual internal evaluation (monitoring, audit, and revision of the Postgraduate Studies Program), in accordance with all of the above, based on the guidelines of HAHE and the QAU.
  • Support of external evaluation and accreditation procedures, in cooperation with the QAU.
