Call for Applications for Admission to the “Artificial Intelligence” program

The School of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) announces that during the academic year 2026-2027 the approved Postgraduate Studies Program in “Artificial Intelligence” will operate for its 9th year.

The following are invited to apply for admission to the program:

  • Graduates of Schools of Informatics, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science from domestic universities
  • Graduates of other university Schools of Natural Sciences and diploma holders from Polytechnic Departments with a strong background in Informatics
  • Graduates of other Schools from domestic Universities or Technological Educational Institutions (T.E.I.) with a subject area related to Informatics
  • Graduates of equivalent foreign institutions with a subject area related to Informatics, provided the degree has been recognized by D.O.A.T.A.P.
  • Members of the E.E.P., E.DI.P., and E.T.E.P. categories serving at AUTH, provided they meet the conditions of the first subparagraph of paragraph 1 of Article 34 of Law 4485/2017, may be enrolled as supernumerary students, only one per year, on the condition that their degree and the work they perform are related to the program.
  • Current undergraduate students in the above categories who are in their final semester and are expected to obtain their degree by the end of the program’s registration period.

The maximum number of admissions to the “Artificial Intelligence” program for the academic year 2026-2027 is set at thirty (30) postgraduate students.

Courses are held Monday through Friday, in the afternoon hours.

Required documents:

  1. Application form (electronic, accessible from the postgraduate program’s website)
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. Copy of undergraduate degree or diploma
  4. Certificate of equivalence and correspondence from D.O.A.T.A.P. (where required)
  5. Copies of any recognized postgraduate degrees
  6. Official transcript of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses
  7. Grade obtained in the undergraduate thesis, where applicable in the first cycle of studies
  8. Evidence of at least good knowledge of foreign languages for Greek applicants, or of Greek for foreign applicants (B2 level)
  9. Publications and writing activity (if any)
  10. Any evidence of professional or research experience (duration and subject area)
  11. Names and contact details of two (2) faculty members willing to provide letters of recommendation for the applicant
  12. Photocopy of National ID card / Passport
  13. ID-type photograph

Related courses to the program include the following: Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Autonomous Systems, Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, Programming, Knowledge Systems, Decision Support Systems, Signals and Systems, Stochastic Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition, Digital Signal Processing, Graphics, Digital Image Processing, Neural Networks and Deep Learning.

The selection criteria are grouped into five parameters; each parameter is assessed on a scale of 0-10 and the individual assessments are weighted by weighting coefficients to produce the score of the applicants. Specifically, the following are taken into account:

  1. The overall degree grade, the relevance of the degree, and the quality of the applicant’s transcript with emphasis on performance in courses related to the program, with a weighting coefficient of 35%. The minimum grade of the first-cycle degree or diploma must be at least six (6) on the 0-10 scale (or equivalent if another grading scale applies).
  2. Performance in the personal interview, evaluation of the applicant’s CV, and the applicant’s ranking among their fellow students, with a weighting coefficient of 25%.
  3. Any published works by the applicant, with a weighting coefficient of 20%.
  4. The applicant’s language proficiency, with a weighting coefficient of 10%.
  5. General research or professional activity, with a weighting coefficient of 10%.

Applicants who are currently undergraduate students in their final semester and are expected to obtain their degree by September 2026 should submit, in lieu of a degree copy, a certificate of enrolment accompanied by a transcript. The finalization of their registration will take place upon submission of the degree copy.
